Pastor Appreciation Month, 2015

Time to Focus on Honoring Your Pastor

If your church is like the one I serve, Pastor Appreciation Month, 2015 just about got past us.

Not that honoring our pastors is unimportant, the fact of the matter is that we were focusing on a big milestone in our church's history.

By the way, this edition of Pastor Appreciation Ideas is sponsored by Christian author and publisher Paul Slater, who happens to be me.

100th Church Anniversary

Our church recently celebrated our 100th anniversary! While a lot of work to put it together, we were pleased with each activity and worship service.

Yet I have to admit I am eager for us to once again focus on the here and now.

Return to Pastoral Ministry

I should tell you I have come out of retirement and am now serving full time on staff. My key responsibilities are Pastor to Senior Adults and Facilities Administrator.

We had several of our staff leave in the past year and our pastor also took a leave of absence during the final months of his wife's life.

Church Cookbook Published

One of the tasks I was able to accomplish for our 100th anniversary was to publish a cookbook entitled Recipes for Hospitality. You can glance at it by clicking on the link that follows:

Recipes for Hospitality

Perhaps your church would like to publish your own cookbook and could use our's as an example for doing so. One of the newer ventures I had embarked on was to start my own publishing company. I have to admit that my long hours working for my church have delayed some of my projects.

One of my goals has always been to publish Pastor Appreciation Idea books and hopefully will be able to do so in coming days.

Honor Your Pastor

Meanwhile, I do encourage you honor your pastor during Pastor Appreciation Month. While that may sound self-serving now that I am a pastor again, I assure you that your pastor, if like me, needs all the encouragement your church can give. I believe it will make God proud of you too.

Onward with purpose,

Chaplain Paul Slater
